Sustainability

Hanhikivi 1 project complies with responsible business practices

In the Hanhikivi 1 project, we comply with legislation, operate in accordance with the nuclear safety principles and are committed to promoting sustainable development and justice. We do not accept corruption and adhere to absolute honesty.

Fennovoima and the Rosatom Group are committed to complying with the ten principles of the UN Global Compact initiative on human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption. These principles are also included in the companies' codes of conducts.

Fennovoima: owner, licence applicant and operator of the Hanhikivi 1 plant

  • Full compliance with all applicable laws,
  • Prohibition of all corruptive behavior,
  • Occupational safety in all operations,
  • Respect for human rights,
  • Environmental compliance and sustainability actions.

The Rosatom Group's Sustainability Policy, Anti-Corruption Policy and Code of Conduct, Environmental and Occupational Safety Policies and Safety Management System Guidelines guide the operations of all Rosatom Group companies.

Reporting concerns

You may report Fennovoima of ethical grievances or possible findings related to violations related to Fennovoima's operations or the Hanhikivi 1 project. You can share your concerns with the employees of the Pyhäjoki local office or the Helsinki office or, if you wish, report them through official channels.

All external stakeholders have two official channels for reporting potential ethical violations. We encourage you to raise your concerns by emailing [email protected] or anonymously through the external service provider's online reporting tool. You can find the tool here.

Fennovoima's Compliance team assesses all reported suspected violations and takes the necessary action. If your concern relates to a company involved in the Hanhikivi 1 project other than Fennovoima, we will forward your report to the respective company for processing. We will monitor the processing. Please report your concern, preferably in Finnish or English. We also process notifications submitted in other languages.

We recommend that you follow the communication in the reporting tool, as we will ask you for more information and report the outcome of the investigation. Proven ethical misconduct or violation will result in appropriate disciplinary action.

We apply absolute confidentiality to all communications related to expressing concerns, and we do not tolerate any countermeasures, harassment, or discrimination of persons who have submitted reports. Even an attempt of a countermeasure will lead to disciplinary action and may even lead to the termination of employment.
