Hanhikivi 1 magazine’s readers are satisfied with the publication

According to a reader survey, the Hanhikivi 1 magazine is a high-quality, informative, and topical information package that reliably provides news on the project and the construction site.

According to a reader survey implemented by Fennovoima, the Hanhikivi 1 magazine is considered a high-quality and useful publication that reports on the major project in Pyhäjoki in an interesting fashion. The readers found that the magazine has succeeded in comprehensively reporting on the Hanhikivi 1 project and the role of nuclear power in mitigating climate change.

“In the spring, we asked our readers to give us feedback and suggestions to develop the magazine. A total of 325 people from around North Ostrobothnia, most of them from Oulu, responded to the survey,” says Sakari Kotola, Communications and PR Director at Fennovoima.

The magazine’s fresh look, comprehensibility, and varied stories were all appreciated.

“Thank you for an interesting magazine. I wasn’t very much interested in nuclear power before, but since I started reading the magazine, my interest has grown,” one reader says.

“The topics are interesting. The magazine keeps me informed about what’s happening on the Hanhikivi peninsula,” another reader writes.

More pictures and news on the people and stages of the construction site

The readers would like to see more stories about the progress of the Hanhikivi 1 project and the construction site. They would also like to read more interviews of specialists working in the project, as well as local decision-makers and opinion leaders. In addition, more stories concerning nuclear power, technology, and the partners and subcontractors participating in the project were requested.

The majority of the survey respondents (70%) would like to continue following news about the Hanhikivi 1 project primarily on the printed magazine. A third are happy to also follow the project on the social media.

“We intend to continue publishing the printed magazine in the region. In addition, we will design new digital content and start producing a completely new printed construction site supplement,” says Kotola about the plans for the future.

The Hanhikivi 1 magazine is published twice a year and delivered to all households in the area of 15 municipalities in North Ostrobothnia. The next issue of Hanhikivi 1 will be published in November.

The reader survey was implemented in May and June 2021. It was announced in the Hanhikivi 1 magazine and on the website. The prizes of the reader survey were drawn on June 16. The winners have been notified individually.
