Readiness to operate the nuclear power plant
Operational readiness means that the nuclear power plant itself and the operating organization are ready for safe, cost-effective, and efficient operation of the plant.
The operational readiness of the nuclear power plant and a strong safety culture are created gradually through technical work and organizational development.
Operational readiness means that the nuclear power plant itself and the operating organization are ready for safe, cost-effective, and efficient operation of the plant. The plant must meet the technical and safety requirements specified for it, be easily operable and maintainable, as well as be capable of producing the agreed volume of electricity.
On the other hand, organizational readiness requires the right structure, competences and functioning processes. The functions and competences of Fennovoima and the plant supplier RAOS Project are developed proactively and with determination throughout the project so that they meet the requirements set for each project phase.
In addition, the development and evaluation of the safety culture continues through the entire life cycle of the project. This applies to all actors participating in the Hanhikivi 1 project.

Human factors contributing to the safety of the Hanhikivi 1 nuclear power plant
Fennovoima's human factors engineering team ensures that the Hanhikivi 1 nuclear power plant is designed in such a way that it allows the future operating personnel to perform their work safely and effectively in all foreseeable operating conditions.
Preparing for the 60-year operation of the Hanhikivi 1 plant
Fennovoima achieves operational readiness when the Hanhikivi 1 nuclear power plant and the organization operating it are ready for the plant's safe, cost-effective and efficient operation.
Commissioning is the last step of the plant construction
In his article, Matthew Geraghty explains how Fennovoima is preparing for the commissioning of the Hanhikivi 1 plant.
Our availability factor goal for the nuclear power plant is ambitious
The availability factor goal that we have set for the Hanhikivi 1 plant is ambitious and achievable, says Ville Määttä.
Preparing for operation of the nuclear power plant
Operational readiness is built already at the planning stage, both for the power plant and the organization that will use it in the future.
Nuclear power plant maintenance
The service life of the Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant will be at least 60 years. To keep the plant in good condition throughout its life, there will be frequent inspections and maintenance work.
